Outreach Programs

There are approximately 500 dedicated foster parents who reside within the South Fraser Region (Surrey to Aldergrove). In keeping with SOS Children's Village commitment to community, SOS BC has programs that aim to support and strengthen foster families who do not reside at the SOS BC site.

Current programs available:

  1. Caregiver support (Circle 5)
  2. Therapy (Neurofeedback, art and play therapy)
  3. Literacy skill development

A Portrait of the Program: Art Therapy

An interview with Frauke Reddick, one of the art
therapists at SOS BC. She explains what art therapy
is and how it helps foster children supported by the
Outreach Programs to process negative emotions
in an acceptable and positive way. She also talks
about the wonderful mural all the children in the
Village worked together to paint.

Neurofeedback Therapy Explained

This is a fascinating demonstration of a high-tech,
emerging therapy called Neurofeedback, which SOS BC
has had great results with. This technique is used to
help foster children that suffer from behavourial, sleep
and brain disorders by teaching the
brain to function
better.
